Piccolo Caratello

We actually were going to the Al Caratello for dinner on a Monday night, without booking, but the restaurant was full, so the lady sent us across the street to the Piccolo Caratello, wee one table for 2 was available! Book to be safe. The service was excellent and super friendly, their wine menu was quite extensive for a small restaurant and the food was delicious. The plat du jour pasta amatriciana was fabulous, served with fresh rocket/Aragula, lovely pieces of pancetta and shavings of pecorino. My friend had te same, but our neighbours had the ossobuco and were raving about it. Incidentally, i remember making the comment that every plate that went back to the kitchen were empty! And the portions were pretty generous!!Dessert was excellent too, I had the chocolate cake with a caramel filling and animal ice cream on the side, not too sweet and really tasty...a delight! My friend had a fruit salad with ice cream, fresh seasonal fruits with an excellent vanilla ice cream. Just go, you'll have a great Italian experience in Montmartre!

We visited with our hungry 3-year old who was passed his bedtime and where greeted with nothing but friendly smiles. The waitress who spoke excellent English fetched cold milk for him off the menu in a wink. We had nice olives while awaiting our food. Our son was served an almost adult sized portion of the pasta of his choice at a reduced price and we had probably the best seafood pasta ever. Both having travelled quite a bit and lived for periods in Italy, this is for sure a good grade. The amount of fresh seafood was immense, covering the most beautiful linguine in a rich and tasteful tomato sauce. The food, service and atmosphere was all so good that we returned the day after having the exact same course, and just as good second time. Greeted by same friendly waitress who remembered what we had the night before and brought our son his milk without us even asking. Don't miss this Italian gem!

We had just finished fighting the crowds at Sacre Cour and just wanted to find something authentic our first meal in Paris. My 14 year old can be picky, which is one reason we opted for Italian. But let me say, it was a wonderful first dinner in France for her and for me! This restaurant is situated in a quieter part of Montmartre, walking distance from the droves of tourists. Yet, it was definitely authentic. I believe we were the only clients speaking English, which was nice, assuring us we hadn't wandered into a trap! The staff were generous and served up great pasta and lasagne!

Delicious food and beautiful service. My partner and I were staying in the Montmartre area and wanted to eat nearby. Craving some pasta, we did our research and stumbled upon this absolute gem. We visited on a Saturday night and the restaurant was seemingly booked out, however the lovely waitress managed to find us a table. It seemed to be a hit with the locals, as there was a constant stream of people coming through.The service was delightful, food outstanding and we will definitely be coming back next time we are in Paris, though we will be sure to make a reservation prior.

In this area, it isn't easy to find something which isn't a tourist trap.... this is it! Stunning food, fabulous service, and great wine. Went there with our two very tired kids at the end of a very long day, both chose food they had never eaten before and both adored it. Our waitress was incredible too. We can't recommend it highly enough.
