Lovely outdoor seating and excellent service. The food was ok, but nothing special. We ordered the caprese salad as an appetizer. It comes as cherry tomatoes in a juice glass with a large ball of mozzerella cheese on top. This sits atop some loose leaves of lettuce and basil with a couple small pieces of toasted bread. Not what I was expecting, but it works if you put it together. I had the lasagna. The portion was generous and the texture was good. I don't have high expectations for food from other than the country I'm visiting unless there is a high concentration of that nationality (in this case Italian). There are not a lot of Italians in Mondsee! So, if you need a break from Austrian/German food, it is fine. But, its not Italian like you will get in Italy.
My wife and I ate here once in September 2016. I'll be quick about this. We ate here for two reasons; first and foremost the nearby restaurant called Wirtskultur was closed. Otherwise we have eaten there. Secondly, on a longer visit to Austria, sometimes you need a break from Austrian/Germanic cuisine. Italian seemed like a good idea. We both ordered lasagne. It was heavy, mushy, limp and rather tasteless. Think "lasagne belly bombs." Neither of us could finish our meals despite some serious hunger. Service was very slow. A German couple from Hamburg sitting next to us said that the lasagne looked good to order. We both shook our heads and I whispered, "Schlecht und schlimm." Maybe their other food is better?
We visited for lunch. We order spaghetti carbonara, spaghetti bolognaise and an inferno puzza. The pasta dishes had very little sauce and the pizza came out folded and was filled with ham and mushrooms and no spice, found out I was given wrong order, not impressed at all.
Great location to enjoy the parade of people walking down the street. Pizza was great and the staff were friendly and helpful. Great atmosphere and perfect way to spend a leisurely couple of hours.
