Wirtschaft Rathaus

After a long drive, we decided to stop in Rapperswil in order to get dinner. Even though there are a lot of restaurants along the lake front, we wanted something more Swiss and less touristy. Went in around 5.30 pm, but as all Swiss restaurants, kitchen only opens at 6 pm. So went for drinks and came back around 6.30 pm. Only about 3 tables were taken by that time. Service was very attentive and efficient. We want for a mixed salad to start with, and without doubt, it was probably one of the best mixed salads we ever had. Good mix of greens, perfectly cut and seasoned. Absolutely worth it. Followed by Zurcher Geschnetzelt, a typical Swiss dish with rorsti. Wife had Perch filet (Egli filet - fish). Fish was nice and good portion. The Geschnetzelt had relatively not much meat and lacked seasoning, not to mention the presentation was poor. Rorsti was also not overwhelming, have had better. Restaurant got very busy around 8 pm and considering that they only had 2 waiters, some tables had to wait a while. Good restaurant if you can go early or if you don't mind waiting a while if you go late. Prices are Swiss standard, about 50$ on average for the main dish.

I was in this restaurant yesterday afternoon, Aug, 7th, 2017, around 3.00pm. We waited with my girlfriend 20min for the waiter to come. People were coming and leaving, at least three other tables were served, where people came later then we did :-( So, we just left... I'm sure food and drinks are good here, but we just didn't get to try it. I don't know if the waiter did it on purpose or he was just so incompetent, but I suggest to better select your employees. IF I COULD, I WOULD GIVE 0 STARS for such a behavior in such a restaurant. Thank you for nothing basically.

My wife and I looked for a quiet restaurant near our hotel - away from the noisy lake-side scene. The Rathaus had a cool outside area although the service on a Monday evening was a bit slow. But, my starter salad, calf liver and onions and my wife's Egli filets were excellently prepared (ample portions) and made up for the wait. We will definitely be back!

Restaurante situado em praça pedonal, edifício antigo muito bem conservado com vitrais lindíssimos, um espaço com história.Serviço atencioso e eficiente.Comi dois pratos típicos suíços, confeccionados ao momento sem truques, cozinha transparente.
