"We stopped by chance on our route and both had the steak tartare. It was excellent. Our French isn't great but the waitress spoke a little English and was welcoming. We would definitely visit again."

I had been meaning to revisit Chez Arlette for some time and this was possible last weekend. The restaurant is in a rural setting on the D2562 en route to Draguinan, as it crosses the river Siagne and is quite simple inside, but my recollection was of ample portions of tasty food.We both chose to have the € 18.50 menu, which included starter, main course, dessert and a 1/4l carafe of wine each, with the plat du jour as the main course. The starter choice was either charcuterie or crudites, so we took one of each to share and the portions were ample. Next, for the main course was tajine de poulet, which came with two generous pieces of chicken, in a delicious sauce, confit de citron and accompanying vegetables, which was all very enjoyable. Finally the dessert for which my partner chose the suggested home made tiramisu, which unfortunately as a 1/4 Italian, did not come up to her expectations and I agreed after tasting it, too bland and no hint of marsala. Happily, I enjoyed my choice of a traditional 'Colonel', lemon sorbet with vodka, for a €2 supplement, which I find is always a good way to refresh the palette at the end of a meal, but to finish we had quite mediocre coffees, which again affected my partner's palette more than mine. She mentioned this to the waitress, who seemed surprised and suggested that we buy another, strange! In closing, despite the negatives I will still revisit Chez Arlette at some time in the future, because clearly based on the starter and main courses, the eponymous Arlette is still producing good things in the kitchen, it would be nice to think that next time I call there, the small defects noted will have ben sorted out.
