This restaurant is just round the corner from the main attractions of Eu, very close to the central square, Cathedral and Castle. It is, as its name suggests, directly opposite the post office, so that if you can’t find it, you need just ask for ‘La Poste’. The restaurant is pleasantly decorated in deep red and tends to fill up with locals as its menus represent very good value. The basic ‘formule’ costs just 12.50€ for three courses. The first is a help yourself buffet including many different salads, charcuterie, marinaded fish plus fresh bread and butter, almost a meal in itself. There were some six or eight main courses and the same number of desserts to choose from; I had the poached trout with lemon sauce and was offered duchesse potatoes, chips or rice as accompaniments. Desserts were cheese, various tarts & pies or crème caramel. Everything was attractively presented and service was speedy and attentive. At 12.50€ (£9) I felt this was a real bargain. There are obviously also several more pricey menus for those with more sophisticated palates and/or larger wallets than mine. Noted: the single dishes may work out no cheaper than the 3-course menus.I may also add in conclusion that the toilets were nicely decorated in pale blue with seaside motifs, large and spotlessly clean.
