Engelberg

Really liked the hotel restaurant engelberg.. I visit a lot of Michelin stared reataurants, usually in big ciities, and this restaurant reminded me of them. The food is moden European, straightforward, creative, beaufully presented and delicious. The starter and main courses were pretty good, particularly the pike perch slab fillet The puddiing was as good as I 've had anywhere.The interior is an understated post modernist style retaining the original features, with tasteful greys and slate colours. Very contemporary. Engelberg does have a few restaurants like this, but this is the best value, as well as being at least equal to the others in quality. On the night i visited set menu for 35 francs for a three course meal is seriously inexpensive for Engelberg. And if you earn your money outside switzerland youll appreciate this. Recommended.

More than 10 minutes wait to order something to drink and more than 30 minutes wait to get a Raclette. The Raclette for CHF 23. was excellent quality wise, but the cheese was extremly thin and only a few slices, therefore not enough for a hungry man. I would not recommend this place even tough it is a historical restaurant.

We had a very good cheese fondue here. Most of the menu choices were local specialities, primarily cheese-based but also rosti. The service, like the atmosphere, was on the functional side. Prices were reasonable (for a Swiss ski resort).

Visited the place with a party of six. Very nice and friendly welcome. Good fondue. Many well cooked traditional Swiss recipes. As a born Swiss guy I think I can judge if it is good stuff or not- and it is good! Would go again.

Very good local food with a lot of choice (fondue, raclette, roasti,... . It’s a kind of family restaurant with a good atmosphere. One of the best restaurant in town.
