You can transit from the Bernese Oberland (Interlaken, Lakes Spiez & Thun, etc) into the Emmental or the Entlebuch via the Schallenberg Pass, a gentle, low-alpine mountain road that mainly leads through green pastures and some picturesque villages. At the height of the pass (1167m) is the Restaurant Gabelspitz where you can rest for a drink and/or a bite. We have done this trip many times in different seasons, and so again in mid-June, with gloriously sunny and warm weather, driving through lush green meadows and forest groves. The restaurant was quite busy on this late Sunday afternoon, but we managed to get a table and had simple drinks of Süssmost as well as the slightly alcoholic version of "Suure Most", and coffees and we also shared a couple of Nussgipfel - our passion when visiting Switzerland. Nice friendly service, good fresh mountain air and views into the green countryside. A place and drive to enjoy.
Driving one of the most beautiful parts of die Schweiz, the Panoramastrasse, I drove by this restaurant. Time and location where prefect so I made my pits stop here. Parking in front, your care or bike. A nice cosy place to take a coffee break, a lunch or your dinner. I had lunch, a so called fitness plate with salads and chicken and a drink. Prices are ok and staff was very friendly. Very nice place and enough space. A good place for a stop. I would recommend taking a tour over this Panoramastrasse and take a stop here. A great break and I'll do it again.
Our B&B host set up a reservation for us so that we could experience Swiss fondue and it did not disappoint.Being American, we had challenges with communicating, but our waitress spoke a good amount of English so we were able to communicate with her very well.Prices in Switzerland are not cheap, so please keep this in mind when dining anywhere. A walk to the top of the mountain will produce breathtaking views. A must do when in Eggiwil.... as a matter of fact, we went here twice on our visit to the Emmental!
Ich kam mit dem Velo auf die Mittagszeit. Der Service war freundlich und kompetent. Alles ging schnell und korrekt. Der Wurst-Käse-Salat auf einem ovalen Teller mit 5 verschiedenen Salaten wunderschön angerichtet. Garnitur mit Liebe und guten Produkten. Selbst die Deko-Früchte waren frisch und schmackhaft. Grosses Lob in die Küche.
