Mariazell in summer and early autumn offers many pleasant outdoor seating, but not better than the charming street side tables of the Hirschenwirt with a view of the Wiener Straße with its beautiful old buildings and its beautiful window boxes that burst with flowers of the late season. You can also see the famous pilgrimage church in the distance. Even if it makes a point to try new places in the 3 times we have visited Mariazell, we always stop at the Hirschenwirt, if not for a full meal, then for drinks or a light snack, just to take the view and enjoy some quiet moments in a busy place full of tourists. Most of the sidewalk cafés here are crammed with tables, not to mention people, among them some, who are sitting close by loud or unattended by passengers. This is not a problem with the Hirschenwirt, whose half dozen or so outdoor table, individually fed against an off-roader, make it possible to enjoy quiet, relaxed moments away from the main tourist shredding. The food is good and hearty, with international dishes and traditional dishes. We tend to the latter and thus have both the local sausage (especially the Kaesekrainer, Austria 's ubiquitous spicy cheesy indulgence) as well as the richer dishes, such as the amazing Pilgrim 's spicy cheese, which is everything you expect from a local specialty on the offer of pilgrims who have traveled far and have exercised considerably to come here. Look at my picture. If you stand up for a large, filling meal, that is the one to get! The beer, while not the local brewhouse over the street in the brewhouse, is very good Austrian Goose, serves ice cold. Service is friendly if not what you would call quickly. Food is prepared when ordered, not heated over, its top (taste, freshness) and its bottom (long waiting, so order drinks first relax and enjoy the view). Prices are moderate. The overall experience is very pleasant. Don't miss it.
Traditionhaus unter neuer Führung im Herzen von Mariazell.Service leider verbesserungswürdig, die sonst angenehm und zum längeren verweilen gestaltete Hotelbar/Restaurant wird leider nicht unbedingt von motiviertem, aufmersamen Personal bevölkert.So sitzt man ggf. länger auf dem Trockenem.Positiv zu erwähnen sind aber der modernisierte "Große Saal", der sehr gut für diverse Veranstaltungen geeignet ist. Egal ob Konzert oder Kabarett.
Sehr gute und reichliche österreichische Küche ... besonders die Fleischqualität ist hervorzuheben. Rind kommt vom Bauern aus der Region.
Personal total ungeschult, schäbiger Speiseraum und Geschirr.Qualität der Speisen absolut unterste Kategorie - dafür aber teuer!
