Restaurant L'Atelier 117

Found myself in this restaurant on a Saturday lunch. It was not very busy but you wouldn't expect it to be. The starter was a buffet without much imagination but reasonable quality of food. For main course I ordered the burger (which was one of two dishes left available from the main course menu). I asked to have the burger without the ban and was told by the waiter that he wasn't sure if it was possible and he'll have to ask in the kitchen. I told him that I wouldn't like to complicate things for them and I'll order he regular burger and just leave the ban to the side. He did insist to check with the kitchen (I guess he was eager to please) and came back and said that the chef is willing to make an exception. When the burger arrived it was quite nice. Served with French fries (it was that or salad... they did not have rice or cooked vegetables). Together with a 500cl bottle of water the bill came to 31 Euros. You can get the same quality for half the price if you go to Lunch Garden or the Flunch. I should had that I found their choice of background music a bit odd for the occasion: AC DC live in concert. All in all, not a disaster.

We stopped of here on our ususal holiday route and were happy with the meal here. The starters buffet is very large with many types of fish as well as the usual salads etc as is the dessert buffet though we went for the cheese option and were given an enormous portion. Main was either tartare on that day or a sea bass, which were acceptable, veggies were a bit sad but on the whole a pleasant evening. Wine menu had a couple of surprises, very drinkable Cotes du Leu (?) which we had never heard of.

We went as a group of 12 people, not such a romantic location but very good for a group. The food was worth driving the 30 minutes for. We could take the 4 course valentines menu, including a cocktail, or the buffet which looked equally delicious. The food was fantastic and a multitude of tastes all of which made my tastebuds jump around with delight. The staff were polite and accommodating. Well worth a visit.

Chinese food, especially of the fast food variety, are hit and missThis place is 99% of the time a hit for me.
