I have been living in New West for more than 7 years. But I have never visited the “Saigon Ivy”. I found this restaurant not so appealing from its appearance. And it’s also emphasizing on the window more the subs than the other meals. And I am not a fan of sandwiches. But now, my friend convinced me to try the food there. So we went. We ordered BBQ Lemon Grass Pork with Shredded Pork & A Fried Egg on Rice and a combo with Lemon Grass Chicken on Rice accompanied with a 3 Coloured Dessert. The service was friendly and the dishes came after a reasonable time. While the taste of Lemon Grass Chicken and its serving size (2 large pieces) was pretty good, the BBQ Lemon Grass Pork was rather disappointing: it was just one piece of thin cut, relative dry meat. The 3 Coloured Dessert looked nice and tasted well. Few days later we went there again. While my friend ordered the combo again (good choice again!) I tried the Chow Mein. The presentation of the dish on the plate was good. Although it was nothing special the taste of dish was o.k. (I liked the crunchy noodles). Generally, it is not a mistake to eat there.

Having no one to cook for this evening, I treated myself to Bún at Saigon Ivy--specifically, Bún Bò Huê, wheat noodle with Vietnamese ham, beef flank, and a spicy broth. The broth lit my mouth up nicely, but the subtle floral flavours still came through beautifully. The flank was tender, the noodles slightly chewy as they should be. The room is cozy, and the owner, who was serving, is very friendly. He seems to have built up a clientele of regulars. which makes me happy. I like having Saigon Ivy nearby!

I did love this place, I don't think I will go back. Food tasted fine except for the plastic wrap included in the pork and shrimp rolls. Service was really bad, at least the waitress had enough energy to get it to our table, other than that, nothing. I rarely leave a tip under 3 dollars for anyone, tonight I did. I will try one of the other little resteraunts next time.

Small restaurant with few tables - not fancy. The food is very good. Their noodle bowls are tasty and reasonably priced. My picky husband tried a Vietmanese sub and was very happy... and that is saying alot! Will return again.
