My wife and I are semi-regulars at this point, and we love this place. We 've had a variety of food items from Sapore and they never disappoint. I don 't think I 've walked out of this place with less than 2 sub sandwiches at any given time. I have several go-to 's that are always in the rotation . I will often order The Dom , the Hot Italian , the American Dream , The Brescia , The Tone B , The Parma , you name it. These sandwiches are stuffed, and I mean stuffed, with the highest-quality ingredients you can find. I 'm not kidding. When ordering a sub at any other place, I subconsciously compare it to the subs at Sapore. No other place that I know of, packs as much meat and cheese into their subs as Sapore. Mind you, they will customize your sandwich to your liking. We 've also had the soups, seafood salad (the best around , olives, fresh mozzarella, peppers, block cheeses, breads, cookies, etc. This place, although small and takeout-only, is a gem. Their prepared lunches are also outstanding. My wife and I have also had The Sausage Special sub (sausage, potatoes, peppers, egg, onions, sharp provolone for breakfast/brunch on a Sunday morning. The staff is always friendly, patient and helpful. As an aside, I am not sure why Yelp lists this place as being open 24 hours(? . That 's weird. As far as I know, they are open M-F 8:30am to 6pm, Sat 8:30am to 5pm, and Sun 8:30am to 2:30pm. But, after all of that, my wife and I highly recommend Sapore as the Italian deli to go to in the area. And, I will say that this is, if not the best place to get an Italian sub, and I am talking about real Italian meats (capicola, soppressata, prosciutto, etc. , it is definitely one of the top Italian deli 's in New Jersey. I mean it. No BS. You have to try it!
Known for their raviolis, but their subs might be the best around. The hot italian and the chicken little are our go-to's, give them a try !! I work odd hours and went in weirdly early to get a sub. Was expecting some grumbling from whoever had to make a sub that early but nope it was done with a smile. When I asked for some balsamic on it he asked if I wanted it on the side so it didn't get soggy on the way home. I got home and saw he even wrapped the balsamic in clear wrap so it didnt spill on the way home. To me it is little customer service things like that that make this already delicious place even better!
We ordered food for Christmas Eve. Chicken franchaise, penne vodka and an antipasto platter. The antipasto was very good and fresh but the penne vodka and chicken franchise were absolutely the worst food ever! The vodka sauce tasted like goat cheese and the chicken franchaise had to flavor at all! We spent over $300! No good!
You won't find a better sandwich joint in New Jersey! That's right, best in the state! The Tone B and Not So Chicken Little are legendary! A tip for you noobs...you need to call in your order.
