I have had the chance to go there for dinner one night. My grandparents came spontaneously to visit me while I was in Austria so I decided to book a room there. On the phone she agreed on having a room available, I even sent her an email. I didn't get a confirmation however I didn't think of anything as I was sure it's reserved. I mean, I called just hours before and was told that I am all set. My grandparents then went to check-in where they were told they are sold out and being walked to another "Pension" just across the street. It didn't really bother them too much but made me look bad on the other side. The room they got there was in a private house which was more expensive then the previously booked room at Schlick where they would have had to compare a full service. We still agreed on going there for dinner. We were again serviced by the boss lady who was the most rude and unfriendly person I have met in my entire life. We asked for a dessert for the inconvenience where she just rudely answered: well, you haven't gotten an confirmation from me. Not that we couldn't afford dessert, but it was just embarrassing for me as well as I arranged the room before. Where then I was just shocked, we are in the middle of nowhere in a no-name hotel/restaurant, who the heck she think she is!! As I work nearby and did first send consumers along the way, I will never send anyone there again and will not recommend it! The food was okay and the gentleman from Slovakia (I believe) was very kind and nice and deserves to work at a better location than having this person as a boss. Around the lake there are more nicer properties with better quality of food and exceptional service, no need to specifically choose them instead.
We visited this hotel after passing it on several occasions throughout our stay, And also several times last year. We were not hotel residents, and had heard some great reports about this establishment. We visited this, hotel hoping to indulge on some coffee and Kuchen, However, on entering we noticed there were not many people dining at the point of entrance however there were a couple of folk around. We waitied and waitied, and waited some more. And after 15 minutes without a much as an acknowledgement, we waited some more. There were plenty of staff walking around and also someone at the bar, which we virtually passed on the way in.Very disappointed for the first time ever in my many stays in Austria, That we had actually had to eventually get up and walk out, Something we or I have never done. I do understand how busy is can get but a simple acknowledgement would have went a long way. And our business went somewhere else. When, we return next year. This will be one place which we will avoid at all costs. Very unlike Austrian Service.
The only positive aspect of this restaurant is a magnificient lake view. Especially during sunset.Food is very average. As a quick lunch or dinner it is ok, but we do not recommend this place if you want to really enjoy good food. But the worst experience was very poor service. Rude staff, who do not appreciate their guest, not helpful at all. Especially the middle-aged lady, who spoke to us only in German, pretended she can´t speak English, although she could and understood us very well. During our second visit she lied we couldn´t pay by card, because the card machine was broken, even though we saw another tables paying by card. According to us, there was another reason. After we decided to have only drinks and not to eat there, it seemed that total bill ( 27,60 EUR) was to low for her to accept our credit card.
We had a good meal for very reasonable prices. The meat was tender and all ingredients were fresh. Definitely a recommendation. I guess in summer the view over the lake is spectacular, but as we were there in winter, it was quite misty.
