Shakthi serves very well prepared Southern Indian dishes. Located in a strip mall with many other Asian restaurants, it doesn’t really stand out, but the sign is noticeable from the street. The parking lot is pretty easy to get a close space. The restaurant is very clean with bright orange and yellow walls, red tablecloths, dark wooden chairs, and a long buffet table. On a Tuesday evening, it was fairly empty which was nice to have a near private dining experience with light Indian music in the background. We typically order the same dishes at most Indian restuarants, but the menu intrigued us to try something different, a Chicken Biryani, in addition to our usual Lamb Korma, basmati rice, and garlic naan. The biryani was savory and excellent. The korma was good, but a bit salty. The naan was a nice addition. The menu was still a bit muddled and confusing considering the titles aren’t in English and most items appear multiple times since they can be made with different proteins. We didn’t try any drinks, although the one table next to us said the mango Lassi was delicious. Dinner came to $40 for 2 including tip, which seemed more than reasonable. Most Indian restaurants suffer the same issues, a large menu that is confusing to most Americans, colorful yet uninspiring decor, but excellent food. This pretty much fits into that mold. If I’m nearby, I will go back, but I will not go out of my way.
