Sihlmatt - Tisch reservieren

There's some good comments already here. It's really about the location in the middle of nowhere (our second visit yet we almost gave up trying to find it this time as the road became narrower, turning into a dark, bumpy gravel track with no view of the place until the last moment); the fresh fish, simply prepared and presented, and the appeal of al fresco on a summer's evening in such an idyllic location. Service was friendly but could have been more efficient. The benches and table settings are quite basic. Don't dress up for the occasion. CHF31.50 for a small trout, a few boiled potatoes and a side salad is a lot. But you'll have a memorable evening if the weather holds out. Take care with your car's underside when driving back or better still, take the long walk there and a torch for the return.

Great place to eat simple trout done well. Idyllic setting in a meadow by the Sihl river, mainly reached by a ramble up or down the river. A few families arrive by car, but mainly for family events with kids. On that topic, it’s a kiddy paradise with all sorts of stuff to keep ‘em busy including a sort of petting zoo. Food is trout, potatoes amd salad. Erm, that’s pretty much it. So if you’re like me, you’ll order a pair of trout and scoff with melted butter sauce. Service is attentive and friendly. I’m guessing some of the low star reviews are due to the place being pretty much booked out on a sunny day. Makes for unhappy people if they get there expecting an easy table at zero notice. And maybe the fish menu is a one trick pony. Dunno. Anyways, I like the place.

It would if got 5. Stars if they had not forgot our order so the food took over an hour. This was balanced with a great value, lovely bottle of Chablis. The surroundings were beautiful. Everyone was enjoying Spring. When the food did arrive, the gnocchi was complex and tasty. The fish was simple and magnificent. Easy to recommend just remind them of the food does not appear!

It's quite hard to eat at reasonable prices in CH, but this is one of such rare places where you can enjoy Swiss cousine without spending too much money. The grilled fish we had was delicious and so were the potatoes with liquid butter. Staff wer nice and spoke both German and Italian. In addition, the location is wonderful! Definitely suggested.

Sihlmatt is a wonderful experience. Fresh Trout, local breads, simple salad with a secret recipe dressing, white wine, sun and a quiet location. Service was very friendly. September and October has special menu days of goat, pig, rabbit. We will return.
