I want to preface this review that I absolutely adore many of the locale and I have never left a poor review on any business before, let alone a local independent one. First time I went here in September, I was immediately pulled aside by who I assumed to be the landlady. I think her name was Claire. Before I 'd even stepped both feet in the door she instantly accused me of smelling like drugs, in front of the entire pub. Working in education I found this a serious and outlandish accusation to make let alone with such public humiliation. I brushed it off as a bad day for her, maybe a misunderstanding or racist/ageist presumption at worst, paranoia of losing the license, and went on with my night a live music night, which she tried to put a stop to all throughout by ringing the bell before curfew. On Wednesday I returned there to take part in the jam night. I was immediately told off again for soundchecking their piano for the jam, advertised to start at 8, at 8:05ish. She was swearing, raised her voice, no please or thank yous, just total and utter berating. Amongst this act of aggression she said it was interrupting the football. The sound of the TV 's wasn 't even on, if so it was barely audible, and there were two people watching it at the other side of the pub everyone else in the pub had come to watch the live music. She delayed proceedings by at least an hour. I then witnessed her absolutely scold the sound technician. Gerry I think his name is, who was so kind to us and treated me and everyone there with a warm welcome and greeted us like old friends. She was absolutely laying into the poor guy for seemingly no reason whatsoever, and he was clearly visibly distressed and hurt by this. There was a security guard outside ensuring everyone was okay and safe. She scolded him at the top of her voice on multiple occasions. He brushed it off as 'oh, that 's just what she 's like ' what worries me is how much this is normalised at this place. Once the live music finally started she was ringing the 'last orders ' bell all throughout and way before the curfew again. I spoke to a regular about how she had talked to me and others, what their thoughts are on her, and how someone who hates people so much would decide to manage of a pub. Turns out, she 's not a manager merely a member of the bar staff! She has no authority at all yet has has bullied the other staff and locale into total submission. While she works there I will NEVER pay a penny to this establishment and would strongly discourage others especially sensitive souls who want to have a nice night without being screamed at. But when she 's gone, I would seriously consider it. I seriously would. And seeing the other reviews I 'm sure many many others would as well.

I love this pub, but the security guard is incredible offensive and inappropriate. Sat out the front, he forced us to move over as he then proceeded to sit down and drink a pint next to us. We then witnessed him go up to multiple groups of people and seemingly intimidate them for fun. It was a Sunday afternoon, it was fairly quiet, families around, yet he deemed it acceptable to throw his weight around with us and as many people as he could. After a while, his food arrived at the table. He went on to spill some of it on myself, all the whole maintaining that he should still be allowed to sit down next to us. All in all, an incredibly surreal experience and we were left confused more than anything else.

My partner and friends came to Skeehans for drinks we have a very well behaved small cavapoo but were turned away, which was a massive disappointment especially as it was pouring down. Meanwhile kids of all ages allowed in. Pub gone massively downhill (see other reviews) We came across the Earl of Derby a few streets away, poles apart in a very positive way. Warm and friendly to all and our furry friends very decent Beer and wine offering. Don’t bother wasting your money at Skeehans take your money somewhere more welcoming.

We went in the restaurant section with our parents, 6 persons in total around 8pm. Sticky tables but decent food, we’ve been told 3 times they were stop serving at 9.25 and felt to promise a rude waitress we’d have been out by 9.45. And we did. We were the only table of their evening. Probably for a reason.

A well run friendly boozer that serves well kept Guinness. The garden has been well designed and skilfully built and the staff are polite and courteous. Skehans is a gem of boozer.
