This is best Thai place we've ever been to. And we only somehow stumbled upon it on an evening ride. First of all, it's the first Thai place that we've seen that doesn't have "Thai" in the name. The decor is trendy and the service is casual, the room felt vibrant but not noisy but most importantly, the meals were so flavoursome! We had Tom Yum soup for entree and my wife loved it. We followed this with stir fry pork belly and lamb curry which were both highly delicious. The spices and herbs are used masterfully. The jasmine rice still had the husks on it, and came in little pans with lids so that they could stay warm in between servings. The other thing we reflected on was that the meals weren't exceedingly big like they tend to be in Thai places. They were the perfect size for 1 man who eats a fair bit and 1 woman who doesn't eat as much. And the prices were reasonable also, less than $20 for mains and less than $10 for entree. Definitely will go again.
Favourite Thai place ever. My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for the last 2.5 years. We had lunch the other day and it was as delicious as always.Favourite dishes are the Pad Thai, which is the best I've ever had anywhere, the red duck and massaman curries. Also excellent satay sauce, which is a benchmark test of any Thai restaurant. Love the contemporary take on traditional dishes. Sideline comments: Staff are always very pleasant and look cool, love the custom branded bomber jackets.It's a smallish restaurant, recommend to book, they get very busy. Only recommendation to chefs/owners would be to look into the soups, way too tangy, this soup lover cannot consume them. Maybe they are more traditionally flavoured. Maybe it's just me. No biggy.
By far one of the best Thai restaurants in Melbourne. The old favourites are all here, Massaman, Pad Thai, Duck Curry and all perfectly cooked. Packed with flavour and enough heat. Then there are the ever changing specials. Tonight we had ChuChi prawns. Wonderful sweet and sour flavours packed with chilli. Excellent coconut rice and save room for the sweet black sticky rice dessert. A must go to when in Thornbury.
We just enjoyed a really tasty lunch at Tom Sam. Very polite service, an inexpensive lunch menu and a comfortable ambience made it a pleasant experience.The Pad Thai was a generous serve with plenty of fresh flavours. The green curry was a standout. Delicious, rich (not watery like some places, with lots of different flavours and a reasonable "kick".We will go back.
