Ducked in here for a lunch and avoided a rainstorm and were not disappointed. Service was delightful and very accommodating. Delicious mixed salads and huge children’s plates of wurst and chicken. Adults had delicious venison and noodles, potato pancakes topped with eggs (daily special) and...goulash soup. No room for dessert but Black Forest cake looked amazing
We looked around all the local restaurants and decided on this one as there seemed to be lots of locals at it! Menus in English really helped otherwise it would have taken ages to translate. Food was plentiful typically German and a range of choices... still find it all a bit stodgy. But good atmosphere and reasonable price. Staff pleasant and helpful !
The reality is, we wanted to find a bar in Hinterzarten with a variety of german beers to sample and this was by far the best option in town. I would highly recommend this place to unwind for the day and have a drink or...two. The service was fairly prompt and they had a nice selection of desserts to choose from. The Maibock was delicious.
Real advantage is that the restaurant has 3 different menu cards (noon/eve, afternoon, after 9 pm); terrace is alongside the main street (but in the facts quite calm), inside two dinning rooms and a bar. Honest German food and good service. For us an 'evergreen '...as we go there every time we are in Hinterzarten.
