We popped in here for a light bite on a cycle ride. The pub is fairly unprepossessing from the outside, perhaps in need of a little TLC. However, don't let that put you off. The landlord was absolutely fantastic: a proper village pub landlord! We just had some quiche and fries, but the quiche was homemade with a lovely short pastry (and not a soggy bottom in sight! . It's definitely somewhere I'll be going back to. According to the board outside, Thursday night is pie night. Sounds like a good way to spend a Thursday night if the pies are as nice as the quiche. Darren is the loveliest host and the food is incredible. What an experience, the steak comes slightly seared and seasoned and you just cook it exactly how you like it. Always top quality steak and I’d highly recommend the cheesecake. A large car park makes for easy parking and all the staff have always been polite and attentive. A real pleasure every time. Not been here for ages but so glad I went tonight. Absolutely delicious steak meal cooked by you on a volcanic stone. Beats the pants of Miller and Carter any time. Great value for money and friendly service too. We'll be back, soon ! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
