The Greek Arch - Tisch reservieren

We were here as a group of eight for New Year’s evening. The restaurant was quiet so unfortunately the food could not be blamed on a busy night. We all ordered the Meze platter at having been advised by the waitress/manager it would be...“loads of food” for everyone and it would include a portion of all the food that was on both the hot and cold menu across starters and mains. Not only did these two commitments from the waitress turn out to be incorrect, unfortunately by the end of our “meal” we were all in agreement that this was definitely the worst food we have ever had. The limited number of meatballs (starter) were served stone cold (none were served of the mains options). The minuscule prawns (again cold) were clearly straight from a bag with no seasoning or effort other than pouring them into a bowl. The calamari was again clearly shop bought from the frozen food section. The hummus neither looked or tasted like hummus. The mains were predominantly chicken skewers which had not been marinated or seasoned but only cooked to within an inch of their life. The pork was limited which was probably for the best as it could not even be cut through and the “sausage” was more a piece of gristle than anything for human (or animal) consumption. All of the food (except the chicken) was laced with salt making much of it inedible. We could not even use the Greek salad to neutralise other foods as this too was covered in salt. Overall the only thing which could be eaten with any degree of comfort was the bread. Despite holding out hope right until the end the desserts again presented further edibility challenges the initial dishes served (unsure what it was) were so soaked in a bed of wet unappetising fluid they were not eaten by anyone. The only Baklava which was served tasted solely of excess cinnamon and not remotely the usual nutty flavour of baklava. We are all baffled as to how a restaurant with so many good reviews could serve such bad food consistently across the entire meal. Having eaten in many Greek restaurants before, this is categorically not Greek food go somewhere else and save yourself both your taste buds and money.

We first visited the Greek arch two years ago on our annual Christmas trip to Ramsgate. I said we'd be back but didn't realise it would be so long between visits. Circumstances as I'm sure you'll understand. Weather filthy (again), wind forcing us back along...the harbour front, but we were determined! And we got our reward. A meal every bit as superb as the last time. Four great starters, excellent main courses, wine and coffees all served with a smile. The restaurant was not busy "circumstances again) so we had the chance to chat to Nancy and she was very engaging. We won't leave it so long next time (so long as we are allowed out) but we will be back! If you're in Ramsgate give the Greek Arch a go. You will enjoy a great Greek meal in a lovely restaurant and you will not be disappointed.

Always been a fan of A La Turka but first time here and oh my goodness, I can't wait to bring more people to experience this! Our waiter Cesar was attentive, very funny and couldn't do more for us. Very accommodating to the vegetarian in...our group. He really made our night. We went for the meze platter, including main meal and it was absolutely amazing. So much variety and I don't need to eat for a few days I'm sure! Definitely recommend based on food and experience

Absolutely amazing food, flavours are outstanding and home cooked with TLC. Service (Nancy) totally welcoming, polite and very friendly. Fantastic wine (Shiraz). Amazing atmosphere and impeccably clean. Well done

Food was basic and we were not allowed our own company the waitress was far to familiar and even told us she's going out for a fag.
