I looked at this place on the basis of a recommendation and was turned around by the menu. The food looked good. I wanted to make a reservation, and it was still a place at 5:15, so I sneaked it. On arrival people were lined at the door and waited for it. The hostess has set me for the exact reservation time. Hailey was my waitress. She made suggestions and let me know what the restaurants were popular dishes. Jake, I think he was the manager, came several times to make sure I enjoy my experience. Both were absolutely professional and helped me enjoy everything. Now for the best part. If I can summarize it quickly... it was a damn good food. Absolutely amazing. Cudos to the cook! You have to experience it yourself. The Grit sampler contains sweet and hearty. The salmon bowl just melts in the mouth. The roasted chicken with hot honey was crawling. I can't wait to come back to Charleston. I'm sure you'll see me again.
A long waiting period (more than an hour! for a party of four turned out to be a great experience with an appealing waitress who responded to the smallest gesture (as if I knew a smudge from my drinking glass). We ordered BLT Omelettes (which was really great and delicious and an old time breakfast, which was delicious! The grottos and coffee are some of the best I've had for a long time. It's worth a visit. But reserve.
Wonderful food, quick and pleasant service. We shared the grotto flight and everyone had a duck: roasted chicken, pork chop and one of the cooking options. Fried chicken was crispy and juicy! Pork chop was so well flavored, and the waiter had great suggestions when he navigated the cooking range. It is our first time to visit Charleston and really enjoyed this dinner! Great ambience and total value of every penny
Amazing food. I've never had such a variety of grit flavors and all the ones we tried were so good. The grit flight is a must try. Huge variety of bourbon available, including bourbon flights. Super friendly staff. 100% would go again.
