The Keg Steakhouse & Bar

We had dinner at the Keg as a group of 6. The ambiance is nice and elegant, the table set up is nice and simple. We got a table right away without a reservation on a Wednesday. I didn't know that The Keg takes reservations on the weekdays. They just don't take reservations on the weekends. They have this summer lobster event going on right now so I ordered the 10 ounce prime rib medium rare and half a lobster with asparagus. The prime rib was nice and juicy and had very nice marbling and the lobster was very delicious. I highly recommend the Keg on 130th Ave because they have really great service and the food is delicious. I will definitely be coming back. PS - ask for the triple cheese butter with your bread. They don't have this on the menu and they don't advertise it, but this butter is to die for. You're welcome :)

this is my first visit to a Keg and it will also be my last. My wife and i tried the Calgary branch this evening. The waiting staff were very positive and friendly, but the steaks were just not very good. My wife's sirloin had to be sent back as it was all gristle, and its replacement was not much better. My own striploin steak was ok, but after all the hassle, the joy had gone from the meal, and we just wanted to leave. I think the problem was that although they cook their meat well, the meat is just not very good in quality, so its well-cooked rubbish. The staff tried to be helpful, and even offerred free deserts, but it was too late to save a doomed meal.

The Keg is the only chain that we frequent. I don't know how the keep such consistently geat food and service. We rarely plan a trip to the Keg but rather end up there at the last minute. Their steaks and prime rib are incredible and that never seems to change. Having said that there is always other menu items for anyone who prefers fish, chicken or ribs. They also have specials that consistently add variety to the menu as well. If you are not in to chain reaterants you might want to consider the Keg South point. You will be surprised this is a well managed establishment and it shows.

My friend and I had dinner here. The servers here are just wonderful and helpful. One of Calgary's most highly acclaimed steak houses. The food was delicious, and the steaks were cooked to perfection. The restaurant offers many options for appetizers, a wide selection of drinks, and mouth watering steaks. There is a big parking in front of the restaurant. This restaurant is a little bit overpriced, but you get what you pay for.

Soooo good. Very nice and clean restaurant. Service was polite and prompt, even though the place was packed for a Wednesday night. Family friendly, do bring the little ones. Will visit again.
