We thoroughly enjoyed both visits the pub had a lovely atmosphere with a roaring fire , friendly welcoming staff and a very interesting menu. Of particular mention were the Thai Spiced Vegetable and Coconut Soup as a special and then the Moroccan chicken tagine both superb . We very much look forward to visiting again when we are back in the area next year."

Really delicious Lamb Henry (with chips instead of mash), but sadly I can not recommend this place if you have a food allergy or dietary requirements. They are trying with GF options etc. but did not inspire confidence in their knowledge/competence or communication with kitchen. I ordered the burger with out cheese, as I am allergic to milk. The waitress who took the order was helpful but wasn't sure if the bun contained milk, she said she would check. The burger then arrived with cheese on. Had this not been visible milk, Id have eaten it trusting that my dairy free request had reached the chief the chief knew what they were doing. Then when the second burger arrived, without cheese on, it also lacked the caramelised onions side salad. When I asked if I could please have the salad, onions and some mayo they were apologetic but also surprised mayonnaise doesn't contain milk. They also said the onions were fried in butter (a pitty as it's unnecessary, and means vegans can't eat them either) I really can't explain the lack of salad surely everyone knows salad doesn't contain milk?! After all this I felt like I was really going to annoy the staff if I double checked the bun milk possibility, so I just didn't eat the bun in case they had overlooked checking whether it had milk in. Disappointing, especially in comparison to the other two pubs in Chinley which have excelled in their helpful service ability to cater to dietary requirements (though only had sorbet as a dairy free/vegan desert option). On the up side the lamb Inn did have a vegan treacle tart ice cream available, despite having no vegan main course. Slightly bizar but great if you only want chips and desert I guess! That is assuming they are correct in saying its vegan I just don't feel very confident to trust their allergen listings after that experience. For anyone without dietary requirements its delicious food and at least one friendly waitress.

My partner and I visited for my birthday and had an amazing experienced at The Lamb Inn. The staff were friendly and welcoming, we were seated quickly and our drinks came out soon after. The selection of ales was great for a local pub. Choosing food was tough as the whole menu looked amazing! We ended up having the ox cheeks (a special) and the mushrooms to start. The ox cheeks were especially incredible, as the meat was tender and the dropping sauce was decadent. We then had the duo of game and guinea fowl supreme for mains. Both were delicious, but the duck bon bon and puree on the supreme were the highlight. The portion sizes were so perfect that even after 2 courses and a drink, we had just enough space for a dessert. The creme brulee and sticky toffee pudding were generously sized and the perfect end to a great meal! We would highly recommend The Lamb if you're in the area. As we visited in October, it wasn't too busy, but I would definitely book if you're visiting during peak times, especially after 6pm.

Beautiful olde worlde inn with cosy real fires. Traditional decor and low beams. Larger inside than expected with tables secreted in lots of little nooks and crannies and this adds to an intimate dining experience. All tables laid out beautifully with sparkling clean crystal glassware and cutlery, not forgetting little candles and fresh roses. The menu is stunning with such diversity of dishes. The most difficult thing was choosing what to eat as all the suggestions were enticing! Pricing was more expensive than a pub but still reasonable for the excellent food we had. Bar prices quite steep £5.25 for a pint of real ale however, It was of excellent quality, clearly knowledgeable in cellar management! The staff were all very friendly and eager to please without being overbearing. Will definitely come again when in this part of the country in our motorhome. Thank you all at the Lamb Inn.

We enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch which was not booked, upon visiting the hostelry we were welcomed and advised that should we wish to have lunch then we would be catered for . We were so glad we did ordering the roast Derbyshire lamb with an extra portion of cauliflower cheese. This was possibly the best Sunday lunch we have enjoyed for a very long time. The service and quality of food was a credit to the owners of this establishment. Well done , we will be back
