Went there Nov 8th and was excited. Ordered the boiled shrimp, clams and the crab bake. The shrimp had zero flavor, not salt, no flavor at all. Even with adding the salt, hot sauce and lemon.. it was a no go. The Clams my 9 year old ordered the same with the flavor, my daughter said the crab bake was bland but she wasn't as let down as us. **** Mary's, very good, rolls, came in Costco size bags, not warmed literally just out of the bag and onto your plate. Paid, tipped but will never come back. Worst to me, is they share doors with a pricey restaurant next door. This is the Nugget now, completely empty, it was a Weds but I am glad our friends had other plans. I had been raving about trying this place. I had zero problems with the staff, probably because I didn't send anything back, just chalked it up to an experience.
This is my favorite spot to eat when I come visit Tahoe. The seafood is so fresh and tastes amazing. Almost everything on the menu is a hit. The oysters are so fresh all I need is a little hot sauce and lemon juice on them. The clam chowder is thick and chunky with bit pieces of meat and potato. My top 3 things to get are the Crab Legs Seafood Boil, Jambalaya, and Gumbo. Everything tastes so authentic and the chefs cook everything to perfection. Last time I got the jambalaya, I asked the chef to make it extra spicy for me and he delivered! It was super spicy but not to where I couldn't taste the flavor of the meal. The sausage was chewy, the shrimp was meaty, and the chicken was juicy. Definitely will continue to come here every Tahoe visit. There is a location in Sacramento but I prefer the Tahoe one!
We came here cause of the reviews. We went on a weekday and there was a small line only took about 15 mins to be seated. Please note this place has very limited seating. All seatting is around a bar type thing so you can see them make your food. We order a few different dishes. We try to get the clam chowder, but they didn't have any that day. The oyster shooter were good and strong. We order half a dozen oyster and that was good too. What wasn't good was the crab boil. It had no flavor. It just had crab and onions, we were very disappointed. The shrimp pasta also hdidnt have any flavor.
Located inside the Hard Rock hotel and always has the longest line. It's basically a counter style bar with few seating (hence the long line). Dishes are made to order as well. My absolute favorite is their pan roast which you can get with your preferred seafood. The clam chowder is also a good pick. Definitely a must try when you're in Tahoe. Giving 3 stars this time since oysters weren't the freshest and the wait staff can be hard to track down.
