Wednesday evening 9th November and we visited this branch of Spoons in the centre of Redhill, twice. We did pop in earlier in the evening for a drink and to see what the pub was like. A pint of Ruddles was £1.59 and Carlsberg £2.39, so £3.98 for our two drinks, amazing. We had intended to go for an Indian meal for dinner, however there was only one person dining in the restaurant as we walked by, it did not appeal so we kept on walking back here. We found a table and we ordered, via the App, from the simple curry dish range, a chicken tikka masala, served with pilau rice, including an alcoholic drink, £7.80. We also ordered from the classic currys, a chicken jalfrezi, served with pilau rice, some poppadoms, naan bread and mango chutney. This curry was £9.70 including an alcoholic drink. So two curries and two pints was £17.50, absolutely cracking value and tasty. The pub is housed in a modern brick built premises, looked purpose built as a large store before being converted into a pub. Due to its design and previous use, the Pub is rather characterless. The main centrepiece is a rather lengthy bar, which houses well stocked fridges and numerous beer pumps. There were a number of slot machines around the pub as well as a number of television screens in the pub, these were switched off. This Pub opened on the 14th August 1996, and it 's name pays homage to the astronomer Richard Carrington, who moved to Redhill in 1852 and built an observatory there. When we finished our meals, we stayed on for a few more drinks, ordered via the App. They were served to our table by cheerful and polite staff. From what we could see it was a clean well maintained Pub.
