The Sun Inn - Tisch reservieren

Once upon a time; or to be more exact May three People living in Sweden who were walking the Dalesway from Ilkley to Bowness when the gods decided to do their best to stop their hike ramble walk. The Hikers ..Ramblers left Netherfield Farm in Cowgill with a goal of getting to Sedburgh before nightfall. But, their walk was doomed, not only had the Norse gods sent clouds of dust from Iceland, but the other gods sent rain and wind of over But all was not lost. After hiking about miles they had to give up and arrived in Dent where they took refuge at the Sun Inn. The person behind the bar saw that we saw out liked drowned rats, so she lit a fire and helped us dry out a bit. We ordered some food and drinks and asked if there was a bus to Sedburgh, the reply was like tomorrow or the day after, so we asked about a taxi. She phoned the woman that had the taxi firm in the village, and she came back and told us that it was lambing time so it may take some time for her to come. Four hours later we were on our way to Sedburgh, fed and slightly intoxicated. A memory of a lifetime about the friendliness and kindness of the Yorkshire people. The lovely village of Dent is graced by two pubs, The Sun and the George and Dragon. In the summer the village is also graced with very hungry walkers, campers, holidaymakers of all kinds. So you’d think that the pub would have the creativity to...offer home cooked, tasty meals. But no. They described it as ‘traditional pub food’ what they mean is lazy catering. Everything in the fryer or the microwave. No imagination in the menu. Forget it if you’re vegan. And it’s not cheap. Pennies short of for fish and chips and steak pie and chips with a couple of pints. We felt depressed after eating there. And we think the beer is better in the George and Dragon local Dent brew.

Had a nice couple of hours in here after walking with friends. Friendly staff, good service, great sandwiches and chips, hit the spot perfectly. (Excellent chips in fact! ; x
