I've been here before in winter for a friend's farewell, and we were in a nice room upstairs, private and the food and service was excellent. This time I brought my family and my parents, so 4 adults and 3 children. Many places were closed in August, but Toane remained open, and it was truly a memorable meal and afternoon.First of all the place itself: In summer we were outdoors, under a tent, in the big garden. There was a bowling/french pétanque alley and the children and grandparents played before during and after the meal. There were large benches and tables for the children to play on, and they had a lot of space to roam in, safely away from the main road. Next the food: Toane offers an incredible deal, daily formulas with starters or desserts plus main course at 19.80 euros. Two of us chose that, and we were gifted with a chef surprise not on the menu, a wonderful canard confit meat shredded and wrapped in a filo pastry samosa, golden and hot from the pan, with a salad as a starter. I am sure the original market menu starter crème brûlée tomate pancetta et tuilde de parmesan would be yummy too. My mum had the smoked salmon salad, again great quality. The main courses were beef (noix d'entrecôte) and fish (loup de mer,) and my dad ordered the special daily main course, a freshly grilled daurade fish, again we were all very happy with our meals. And just to let you know the idea of quality in Toane, which goes above and beyond, the children had freshly juiced strawberry juice, instead of the usual commercial bottle cordial or fruit juice. Again I put a lot of emphasis on whether they serve kids vegetables spontaneously or not, and Toane did not disappoint, a wonderfully plated dish with salad, homemade burger and homemade sauce (no mere Ketchup here,) and steamed potatoes. With ice cream desert and in house meringue, and vanilla seeds in the crème anglaise (custard,) this is a children's menu of 15 euros worth every cent. We ordered a wonderful Pouilly-Fusée, The service was excellent and fast and very friendly, waitresses chatting to the kids directly and helping them in every way, and not getting upset with a spilled juice in between. Dessert seemed wonderful, I'm afraid I'm a chocoholic and went for the entremet chocolat maison which was excellent. Again as Anthony Bourdain suggested, a restaurant with a clean toilet is a good one, and Toane has an exceptionally clean toilet with amenities that show they take hygiene seriously. My only regret is that I have no more space for the jambon iberica (spanish cured ham) dish I had in winter, and didn't try Le Choco-caramel, by the pastry chef Mathieu Duvillard from Pollionnay who trained with Lenôtre, I shall certainly return for it! Thank you for a memorable time with my family!
