Trattoria Antipasto

We were three on Wednesday at the end of June, looking for lunch before we visit the gardens, and by chance came after a meandering 15-minute walk from the Central Station on Antipasto. The terrace was small, quiet, framed by stuffed olive trees. Two of us went for Entrées from the regular menu with the beautiful rosemary apples – the proteins were a pollen all Griglia and a Bistecca argentina. The best dish but was one of the daily specialties, a risotto with lemon and ginger. The staff was friendly and prompt, at home in German, Italian and English.

Owner seemed to tell us what we should eat and drink. Quite capable of taking a reasoned decision but rushed into decisions needlessly. Food all seems to come on a bed of rocket. Also helpful in disguising some of the small amounts of the more expensive ingredients. The bills in Germany include service by law I think. In this place an extra tip was demanded but not paid. Won't go back. It's not what eating out should be. Sorry owner.

Enjoyed the Italian wine and antipasto. Nice Italian atmosphere. Hard to tell if it's open if outdoor seating is stacked against the building. If we did not notice people inside we would have walked on by. My wife enjoyed her dinner but my ravioli was covered with a heavy balsamic sauce. Almost like a chocolate sauce consistency. The wait staff was attentive and spoke passing English. We enjoyed our meals and wine!

Wir haben in diesem Restaurant, das 1734 eröffnet wurde, zu Abend gegessen. Das Essen war ziemlich gut, aber es gibt keinen Platz zwischen den Tischen, an dem man nicht bequem in einer Gruppe essen könnte.

Good selection of traditional Italian food with great selection of wines. The atmosphere completes the good experience.
