We used to love tropics. The renovations have resulted in a cozy lovely restaurant. We went this past Sunday for Brunch. I can’t tell you how horrible it was. It’s a 20 dollar buffet with bottomless mimosa or **** Mary. Problem seemed to be that they were really overbooked or unequipped to handle the crowd. There was one poor soul who was tasked with running back and forth and refilling the buffet. He just couldn’t keep up. We arrived at 1pm and most of the chaffing dishes were empty and the one chef was struggling to keep up. They ran out of plates several times and the hostess was amazing and jumped in but it was a disaster. As mentioned it was mimosa focused Brunch and by 1:15 they had run out of Champagne. Suggestion, don’t show a roast in your ad like you have a carving station, when you don’t. No omelette station, really low quality. Our server was either super hung over or just unable to offer drink service. Overall a disaster and yet easily fixable by management, have multiple buffet attendants. Raise the price and quality, it’s just not good.
Our first time back in over four years and since it fell under new management. The interior has been brightened up and looks very attractive. Plenty of seating. Service was great and the food was good. The only downside is the large bar attached to the dining area can get very loud making it difficult for you to hear your own conversation with your friends. Otherwise a wonderful place for dinner.
Good gathering place for older men. There are various rooms where one can mingle, as well as nightly entertainment. Worth a visit for a pleasant night out.
