Velar - Tisch reservieren

I didn't actually eat in the bar but got pintxos to takeaway that were really good. The bar does look good to eat in though and the outside tables were always full whenever I walked by. There is a long counter with the pintxos displayed and labelled. There were traditional ones such as tortilla and some more unusual ones such as peppers stuffed with cod. The server was really helpful advising which had meat in etc. I choose four including a decent sized slice of tortilla and it came to about 7 euros. The tortilla was fine and the cod-stuffed peppers and tostados with shrimp, egg and tuna were really good. I definitely would have gone back to eat again if I was staying longer.

This is not a really specific place but it fills around lunch time with all local people and also a sparse tourist. Staff is friendly and the choice in pinxtos and small dishes is quite good and variable. Food quality is average. Nice to pop in if you have just watch the pipers or are waiting for the bus but not for a long-lasting meal.or a real comfortable seat.

Bar Velar is very central next to the old town hall. We used it for drinks, dinner and it's good range of tapas. The prices are great with quaffable house wine for 70cents and tapas at €1.60. There is a surprising good little dining room tucked away in the back. Little English is spoken but the staff are pleasant and helpful.

The bar has a few tables outside serving a reasonably priced Menu del dia for €14.90, including 3 courses, bread, a bottle of Rioja and water. Food was ok. Although the menu had an English translation the staff don't speak any, so it was a good opportunity to practice my Spanish.

Great tapas, good beer and cheap wine. Even better for seeing the locals enjoy themselves. Try it if in Laguardia
