Trying to get somewhere to eat during the annual Albariño wine festival in Cambados can be tricky. We stumbled on this place, grateful for a free table., we took a chance, and were not disappointed. We sat outside enjoying the evening sun, and a glass of chilled Albariño. Our food order of chicken skewers and salted cod in salsa arrived quickly, both meals were good and freshly cooked. Great spot for enjoying people watching and the setting sun. Only slight negative was how long it took took to get our bill, but it was the busiest night of the year, so not really a big deal.
I was here for lunch 3 weeks ago while in Spain for work. Our local hosts picked the restaurant, and we had a fantastic meal. Six Americans and two locals did some serious damage to their shellfish inventory, including crabs (nécora a specialty), clams, razor clams, cockles (berberechos), and other goodies like empanadas. They have a wonderful wine list, featuring many local wineries and a focus on naturally produced wines (no chemicals or additives). Service was friendly and efficient (our local friends are regulars) and the location can't be beat.
... not worth going to the end of town for it. We just happened to be walking by and stopped for a drink and tapas. Good tapas, not all that cheap but well executed but not inspiring enough to head back next time around ...
I wanted to try a variety of local albariños and the very knowledgeable waiter let me taste 12 different, sided by some facts and history about the producers, all at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.
