The road is long and winding, whichever direction you come from, but the restaurant is well signposted (yellow signs; if you don 't see one just carry on straight ahead).Watch out for horses on the road, and note the lovely old dry stone walls around the fields. The restaurant is well known locally and makes a popular halt for riders, hikers and collectors of vintage cars. Several dining rooms in rustic style. Outside is a children 's playground, and a flock of curious goats. Extremely friendly and cheerful welcome, very convivial. We had a reasonably priced fixed menu of mixed salad which you season yourself from one of two small milk churns of dressing, jambon à l 'os (generous serving of ham cooked on the bone) served with chips (fries) or röstis the best I have ever eaten, pan fried in nothing but butter and a choice of desserts I had the icecream with damassine, a fruit brandy. For those who don 't want ham, you can have a cheese platter, or choose from the à la carte menu which did not have any fish, just steak, fillet, lamb and various other meats, to be ordered by weight 100g, 200g etc. Compared with the ham I thought the prices were expensive. The waitress was a bit disappointed that some of us asked for mustard; she said the ham was tasty and juicy enough to enjoy without, but she brought two kinds to the table Swiss commercial brands in tubes. Note that röstis take a long time to cook properly to their succulent golden crispness, and if there are more than two of you ordering, there might be a wait. As they serve mainly meat, I think it would be a good idea to bring in a stock of good Dijon mustards.
Unless you know someone and drives you there, you will not find this place. Tucked away deep in the rolling hills of the Franches Montagnes in the Swiss Jura, this is a popular place for those horse riding and cross country skiing. This place has a place to park your horses (with water) and normal parking. Little playground besides some fenced in goats and chickens. Food is simple; meats and potatoes, or in this case Pomme Rösti which is typical Swiss. Basically, shredded potatoes made to look like an Ego Waffle (best way I found to describe it). Meats are served on a hot stone and come in different sizes, 200 to 450 grams. Owner and operator has a great sense of humor, wife in the kitchen, son at the bar... a true swiss mama and papa place!
We went there with family and friends, and I must admit, it's not easy to find the place unless you know. However it's definitely worth a visit, they are super nice and warm people you would feel at home immediately. Their specialty is meat, or jambon à l'os and their homemade rösti. We had green salad as a starter, and they served two delicious homemade salad sauce. We also had pâté de compagne which was also great. Main course we had jambon and beef steak with their homemade rösti. Everything tasted great, I highly recommend this place if you go to Jura.
Wooow...after 6 years again pay a visit to the woods behind...excellent, we come from Bienne, I almost forgot you....but we'll be back soon....what good food, and these 3 women the service, what a joy, you are great... such kind service you can't find in Bienne!!!
