Zum Engel - Tisch reservieren

We've dined down the road at the Esche many times over the years but never made it up the hill and around the corner to Zum Engel. Bad mistake. Zum Engel is tremendous. Atmosphere is great, inside or outside, the food is tremendous (fresh, well...sourced), the service was good and the view quite lovely. We have friends visiting next week and we'll definitely take them (one is vegetarian/almost vegan and there are good options there). Do yourself a favour and go.

Location Nicely located in the countryside a bit outside of Hinterzarten, overlooking a scenic landscape. You need a car to get there, though. Food Good German cuisine from the local Baden region, including game, trout and Schnitzel. The portions are fairly big. Service Very nice...and personal service by the owner and his staff. Value Good value for money.

We've been here for a few years and have never been disappointed. The food is great, especially the fresh trout, the salad buffet is excellent and the staff is always friendly and competent. The location is special. I can't believe there are 6 better restaurants in Hinterzarten. In 16 years coming to the area I found only one that compares the eagles.

The food, the place, tge service! Everything is spot on!!! Huge menu! Best food ever! Oh and the adress is a bit wrong. It takes you up hill and stops you near a different place. Just keep on up with the road and it will...be on the left side :

We eat there 3 times in one week (not something that happens very often) but it was a gastronomical delight. we enjoy the food, the service and the atmosphere very much.
