We stayed in cochem for 2 nights and stumbled across this place, as it's above their wine shop. We enjoyed it so much we ate here both nights. It has a tiny outside terrace overlooking the river which is the place to sit if you...can, however the restaurant also has a nice interior. Staff very friendly and helpful and on the 2nd night when the terrace was full they informed us of when a table became available. Great range of snacks and charcuterie, with a nice range of their own wines which they stock and sell in their shop. So good in fact we purchased a box of their wine to take home with us.
My mother and I enjoyed a few drinks on the elevated terrace with stunning river views. I had read that this venue was good but it far exceeded expectations. The wine was beautiful and the service was great. I strongly recommend doing a tasting of...wines (Weinprobe) where you can taste 4 wines of a certain type (e.g. Medium Dry Reislings) for under €5. Downstairs (during the day) you can order wine to take home, which is cheap to deliver within Germany.
Here, there's a really great selection of wine tasting flights which you can choose based on what you like (reds, whites, sweet, semi-dry, dry, etc. , it's inexpensive, and the pours are big enough that a wine tasting flight is enough to complement a couple of...their small plates and serve as an early dinner. Plus, they have a pleasant patio to enjoy it all on. What's there not to like? Downstairs you can buy a bottle from their shop to take home.
We sat outside, although it was pouring with rain (we were still undercovered) and made a beautiful series of wine tastings that took the local wines in the Moselle. The staff was brilliant and the wines we taste delicious and very cheap. Definitely worth...going for a tasting or 5...
