I just came back from my second dinner at the Kirchenwirt Heber and – once again – I am left feeling completely happy and satisfied, and would like to finally leave this restaurant a 5-Star Rating. The location of the Kirchenwirt Heber, in Kitzeck im Sausal, means it is cropped high up on a hill, offering stunning views of the valley from the outdoor terrace (where we had dinner on a Friday night this August). The waitress is a lovely, friendly young woman and the head waiter is also friendly, polite, and helpful. The food is, seriously, to die for. Kirchenwirt Heber was the last leg of a two-week holiday in Italy where we ate in predominantly excellent Italian restaurants.. but it was, without a doubt, the Kirchenwirt that was the culinary star of the whole vacation! We ordered the Chicken Liver Paté, Pumpkin Paté, Sautéed Chicken Liver with Warm Tomato Salad, Cured Salmon and Chanterelle Mushrooms, Sautéed Calf's Liver with Baked Potatoes, Nougat Semifreddo, Chocolate Mousse, and Selection of Three Local Cheeses. Honestly- I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the service, the quality and taste of the food, the wines (which were wonderfully paired with each different course by our waitress), or the location. We love Kirchenwirt Heber and can’t wait to be back again soon!P.S. Last year we travelled through Kitzeck im Sausal a little later in September, so the menu was a little different (a lot more pumpkin dishes!); if you’re there this or next month, and you see the “Pumpkin Carpaccio” (“Kürbis-Carpaccio”) in the menu – you must try it, it was INCREDIBLE last year!
