This is the third year in a row we have had our office Christmas party at Griesbauer. This is a traditional restaurant that has been in the same family for a long time, authentically country style a ways outside of town. Its claim to fame is fried chicken, like many other restaurants of its kind in Austria and the chicken is indeed excellent. There is also Wiener Schnitzel and cordon bleu. Fresh water fish is available, not breaded. The only option for vegetarians is breaded and fried vegetables. The portions run to the very generous. The side salads are very tasty, also generous. But this is not the place fo people who do not care for and/or tolerate rich foods, especially not vegetarians of that stripe (like me). It is, however, a very authentically Austrian place and worth a visit, especially for fried chicken freaks, there is probably none better far and wide.The service is efficient, friendly and attentive.My only complaint is that the restroom is a little grotty and could stand a face lift or at least a little more attention, but it serves its purpose without being disgusting.
