We arrived in Simplon Dorf later than expected, and found the town to be VERY quiet! Our hotel was not serving food that night, but the owner recommended three places in town for dinner, so we went exploring. We liked the look of Restaurant Simplon, which is in the square, by the church. There were several groups already eating dinner, and the atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. Karin, our server, was delightful, and went out of her way to help us, with our limited German. The menu is very typical of the area, and included bratwurst, rosti, and various grilled meat dishes. My husband ordered Schweinfilet (pork tenderloin) with hot, fresh, fries and vegetables. The meat was presented, sizzling, on a hot mini-griddle. I had Bratwurst and rosti. We thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. It was a very pleasant surprise.
