Absolutely the best italian restaurant ever. The quality of the ingredients used for the dishes had to be the best we have ever had. The bread is made on premises just hours before they open. The foccacia bread is amazing and also used for the pizza crust. We enjoyed our dinner so much that we went back for lunch and will be returning for dinner just prior to completing our vacation here on the big island. We come here annually and will definitely make Al Vicolo one of our preferred restaurants. Davide and his wife maintain the highest standards in their ingredients utilizing fresh local products as well as using items shipped directly from Italy. We would highly recommend Al Vicolo to anyone living on the Island or visiting. You may have a little wait as Davide prepares each meal fresh but it is worth the wait!!!!!
This meal was spectacular. The food in al Vicolo is some of the best Italian food I've ever had, and I'm originally from the area of Philadelphia, where it's hard to beat. My father, who eats in an Italian restaurant several days a week on the mainland in Philly, said that his spaghetti was the perfectly cooked pasta he ever had. High praise! I had the Auberginenparmigiano Special and it was excellent. Dad had a pasta court (I forget that). My fiancée had a pizza crispy and nice. He said it was delicious. Eat here. Eat here.
We were not able to actually try the food since the service was so poor. We waited 20 minutes without even getting water, and left without ordering. They were severely understaffed. We were hoping this could be a replacement for Cafe Pesto in Kawaihae which closed recently, but won't be unless they step up their game.
Loved the newcomer to this area...now on our agenda for all future visits to the Island. Loved the owners and their appreciation of us as customers. Wishing these new immigrants to the USA much success.
