My friend and I were very excited about this long weekend in the mountains with high expectations for fantastic landscape and delicious local mountain delicacies. We chose Ebenalp because of its excellent proximity to the cable car. One of us was slightly affected by mobility, so this was an excellent choice. So we thought... Unfortunately we chose the wrong place. The staff was incredibly rude and unfriendly. Just asking for some water seemed to be annoying. It seemed like we were a constant burden on the staff. I thought the staff was racist, but my friend pointed out that they were acting towards the other guests. The food was just as poor. Breakfast was unspectacular and no proper mountain food was to be found like local mountain cheese and ham. After the food went out on a buffet breakfast, the staff seemed hesitant to bring things up even though there was an hour before closing. Orange juice, milk and water were all warm. The cheese was a factory of cheese from the supermarket and so was the salami and the spam. Dinner was the same affair. Nothing seemed cooked at home, fresh or local. The vegetarian option sent us back directly to the 80s with frozen veg and a pile of fries. They were able to hear the other guests through the thin walls, seemingly run and hit around until good after midnight. The sounds reminded me of the youth hostels where I stayed as a little schoolgirl. All this came to a high price of 140 chf per night for a double room without warm water. The Ibis at the airport would be cheaper, quieter and with better food from the sales machine. It's enough to say that we never stay there again. The mountains are beautiful, so if you can go one hour or so to another inn, I would recommend you to do this and this one great miss.

This is a beautiful part of the world, we stayed over night and enjoyed the sunsets and sunrise over the mountains.. The food was very different to what we are used to but quite enjoyable, yes its expensive but when you look at the position its in Im sure it would cost a lot to get the supplies to such a remote place.. Dont be so quick to judge, its not a city cafe or upmarket restaurant.. people are not in a hurry here, so make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy this amazing place... Id love to go back one day...

Travelled woth family to this touristic highlight of Switzerland on National holiday 1st of August. Everybody is going there, tourist locals etc. We walked up and were welcomed with the warmest ‘glad u made it, welcome’ I ever experienced in the 27 years living in CH. perfect menu, refreshing with traditional CH food combined with more contemporary choice! Well done to u all! Kitchen and all other staff!! You showed hospitality and joy in your work!! Wish there were more of your kind in the XH mountains!!!

I stayed here with my parents for two nights in a family room. The guest house room was clean, cozy and quiet. The view up here is very beautiful. The staff is nice and food is good. The room rate included breakfast European. We hiked down to Aescher and Seaaplsee. Would come back. Note: a) you take cable car up and hike short distance to Berggasthaus b) you pay 4 CHF to get tokens to use shower (collected rain water reserve; very doable). Would come back one day
