Bergrestaurant Timpelweid

Well, you can either walk, bike up there or just pay CHFr 20 per person (no reductions for Halb Tax) for a return on the small gondola, maximum 6 people, we did! You can see on the ride up that you are in for a...lovely feast for the eyes with some spectacular scenery over the Urner See (extension to Lake Lucerne). The gondola is scheduled to leave every half hour but if there are at least 4 persons waiting it will leave on demand. The gondola leaves from the bus stop (Urmiberg) on the main Brunnen Gersau road and arrives almost in the restaurant, so there is not much walking except there are some steps to get into the restaurant which could be tricky. If you wish you can walk further for more spectacular views of the Mythen but it is not necessary. The restaurant itself has indoor and outdoor sitting, quite a few tables with brilliant positions looking out. We went on a lovely Wednesday lunchtime which promised full sun and did not need to book, but it wasn't school holidays. The gondola is also reachable by walking from Brunnen but a bus from Brunnen station saves time if you are just on a day visit. The menu is not vast, you would not expect that in such a restaurant but serves local food very well. There is quite a selection of wine, beer and ice creams. The grilled meat was delicious and the Bergkäse (mountain cheese) is a perfect companion to the Schwyz red wine. The only downside for me was that all the cakes had been eaten in the morning by the walkers!! It was not my first visit to this restaurant but my first since the gondola was saved from extinction a few years ago. Definitely recommended. Well worth the effort and planning to go for lunch, even if you don't walk further and just eat/drink and come back down. I would just check out the weather before visiting, and please note that Mondays are rest days.

Stimmt, es gibt einfachere Wege dorthin zu gelangen als den zweistündigen Aufstieg. Warum probieren Sie es nicht mit der Seilbahn? Aber sowohl Wanderer als auch Touristen werden von der atemberaubenden Aussicht auf den Vierwaldstättersee und die Alpen überwältigt sein. Die Küche ist frisch und stammt aus der Region, Hauptgerichte kosten zwischen 15 und 20 CHF. Das Gastgeberehepaar ist jung, fröhlich und engagiert sich seit einem Jahr dafür, diesen Ort zu einem Muss zu machen, und laut Tripadvisor-Ranking haben sie sich gut geschlagen. Für alle, die keine schwachen Nerven haben, gibt es einen 10-minütigen Spaziergang auf die „Stockflue“ (leichte Kletterei erforderlich), wo sich der Blick auf Schwyz und die majestätische „Mythen-Bergkette“ öffnet. auf jeden Fall eine Empfehlung!

Ich kann die Schönheit dieses Ortes gar nicht ansatzweise beschreiben! Die Fahrt mit der Seilbahn zum Gipfel kostet 20 Franken, es sei denn, Sie sind ein starker Wanderer. Aber an einem klaren Tag ist es den Eintrittspreis SO wert. Die Bedienung war super freundlich und sprach genug Englisch, sodass wir uns mit meinen erbärmlichen Schweizerdeutschkenntnissen unterhalten konnten. Die Bratwurst war köstlich. Und unser Hund war willkommen! Aber das alles hätte 1 Stern sein können, und allein wegen der Aussicht würde ich dem Platz trotzdem 4 geben. Wow. Einfach wow.

We were a group of 4 and had a reservation, which is absolutely recommended. Make sure you have to take the small cable car to get there or go up steeply from 1.5 to 2 hours. We choose the menu of the day which was great and at a very reasonable price. The service was excellent and warm. A fantastic view is the top of the visit.

Fröhliche, nette Bedienung , sehr gutes Essen und dazu noch mit traumhafter Aussicht auf See und die umliegenden Berge.
