Looking for a place to rest our weary legs near the Abbey and Cathedral complex, we happened upon this little place. A few people were on the pavement and no one was dining inside, but we sat inside anyway to get out of the sun. It was one of the few places that served lunch after 2:00pm, so we were happy to be able to have a late lunch after being turned away at other establishments due to the time of day. We had heard about the traditional pasta dish Spaetzle (Spätzli) which they offered here as one of their specialities and so we had to try it. We ordered one with ham and one with bacon and tomatoes. But having tried each other's, neither was tasty nor particularly memorable. Pretty bland really, but not sure if this is how it was supposed to be. Service was excellent and the staff very helpful explaining about the dishes as the menu had no English translations.
I went there with friends from Asia. I wanted to show traditional Swiss food and had a bad experience - nevertheless with friendly staff.The pumpkin soup would have been delicious if there was much less salt inside. Same for the following Geschnetzeltes where the sauce was again way too salty.I was unable to enjoy the real taste of the food - however, unfortunately I need to say that I often make this experience in Switzerland.Chnusperli that I had were not fresh and broke apart without being crispy and reminded me more of dry fish than Chnusperli.The price is appropriate for St.Gallen
Not really an attractive location. No charme inside and outside is also in the midst of the pedestrian zone. But we wanted a drink and sit for a moment. Service was friendly and fast and watching people fun with a good place to oversee people walking by. Good for that but I would for sure not want more from Bierfalken.
