We struggled through a dark rainy night to find this restaurant - not easy to find, sadly the welcome was very poor, my french is not too bad and well up to being in a restaurant, even so it took ages to even get a drink. The oysters were clearly the highlight but as not too our taste looking forward to other fishy delights! Not to be- my fish was so salty as to be nearly inedible, in all poor value for money and a great disappointment. ( We were not alone in receiving poor welcome, l observed two women from afar,being completely ignored for most of the time,as they didnt speak french) Having said that we chatted to two local couples on either side and they were happy with their food.

Every time we visit Dieppe we have to eat here. One of the best restaurants in France, so you need to book. Saturday night the restaurant was full and I suspect we were the only non French. Don't give up if you walk there - the surrounding dock area is knocked down and empty. But once inside delicious wine from Gascony with French radishes, then oysters for my husband and foie de la lotte for me. Followed by the point of the trip - solette meunière - amazing and not to be missed. Then rhum baba with the bottle of rum to tip over. Well worth the four hour ferry!

The restaurant is somewhere on the pier, the place is poorly. But the oysters are absolutely fresh and they suggest a good variety of local fish. Waiter can show the big plate with fresh fish. The only tuna is not local, san pierre, sole, lot, seasonal small kind of turbot and some others are really local, comes from Atlantic ocean by help of local fishermen. Fish can be cooked by different way including some original recipes. Good list of white wine, I was impressed from San Veran, not acid and very balanced.

This restaurant lies off the beating track, and appears to be a local secret. We went a Thursday lunchtime, and arriving at 12.30 the place was heaving, but luckily they could accommodate us. The catch of the day is presented on a platter for inspection. There was a set lunch menu, but we went a la carte. The best fried sardines I had for a long time, followed by scallop cassoulet and one rum baba between us with half a bottle of Sancerre. The staff is absolutely charming.
