Grouse And Claret

The pub is ok, however the room and general experience was very disappointing. I booked a room several weeks ago as a treat for my self and partner before visiting Chatsworth House. On arrival we were shown to room number 1. This is at the back of the pub over the kitchen. One of the extractor fans is routed through the corner of the bathroom and was running continuously during our visit. It eventually turned off at 1:15am. Outside the window is a view of the bins and air-conditioning units that again ran continuously day and night. I approached the management for a change of room and was told that none were available as they had been booked by other couples who had specified a specific room. The management seem to spend the evening mocking us for complaining, they even put us on an unsuitable table for dinner. I had to ask for a change of table. There were few people in the restaurant so this should not have been a problem in the first place. If you still want to book a room here I would suggest that you don't, or at least not room 1, unless you want to listen to the kitchen staff talking, air conditioning and the extractor fan. There are plenty of better options in the area. Price per person: £70–80

The décor is lovely and the staff are generally attentive and polite. The food is above average price for what you get. I had a curry which tasted nice but the amount i had didn't even reach 1/2 way in the dish no more than 3 tablespoons of curry so you were filling up on rice and naan bread. We regularly stay on the campsite behind and used to get a small discount off food if you stayed but that is now only reserved for guest of the pub which is a shame. Overall worth a visit it's a great location with plenty to do in the surrounding area. Price per person: £30–40 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

Pub was decorated amazing , relaxing atmosphere very modern and cozy. Friendly staff and food was amazing . Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
