When we sat down for lunch sparkling water was brought to us without asking. Foolishly we did not think we were being charged because they didn't ask our preference. We proceeded to order our lunches and additional water. We had a salad with chicken and a sausage plate. Both dishes were good and we were satisfied with them. But when we got the bill for two bottles of water we were surprised. We paid and went on our way but more educated to pay attention when ordering something as simple as water.
during our visit with friends we had to find out that already at 20.00 a.m. not all dishes are available. at such a small menu a no go! the offered foods are nicely arranged, but in the amount rather modest. the offered beer allows to obey even if the price for it is at the upper limit. the ambiance of the local would be cozy, if not the whole evening the entrance door had been open. this reads us to underline our unique visit.
. meet here in one of the oldest restaurants in the city. who doesn’t bother with the somewhat discreet but quite charming look of the device can still experience a piece of the original basel. good food and a friendly service are included. (not always self-evident in the otherwise very friendly Swiss;)
a great local with the touch of the 1930s. who loves rösti and even more, is right here. the dishes are most beautiful after Swiss art with the certain extra and culinary variants. here the local and it is very well visited. belongs to the "must go" when you visit basel.
