Excellent food and opportunities for music by the side of the Dordogne These gardens were originally created by Josephine Baker to provide a playground for the children she adopted and who lived in the Chateau des Milandes on the hill above. This place had declined over many years but has now received a loving facelift after being bought by Rosemary xxxxx and her husband with the intention of recreating a music venue and an excellent restaurant in this lovely location. We happened to discover a music event which was taking place before the restaurant opened for the main season. Dinner was provided on the lawn under trees beside of the Dordogne – a wonderful location and a great experience for several of our group of nine who had not visited there previously. Food and service were excellent and the music evening a delight – ending with dessert back at our table at dusk. A memorable and special evening. We were sad that we left the area before the restaurant opened fully.
We have eaten lunch and dinner at this establishment many times over the years. Owners have changed, but the location is superb you can have lunch (or dinner) sitting under trees alongside the Dordogne river. The new owners this year have continued the traditioin of an excellent value 3 course lunch (12.50 euros) and have added a new offer oif one main course, one drink and access to the lovely swimming pool and also the crazy golf course for 14.50 euros per person. This really is a superb location we had lunch here in mid june 2013 and the new chef provided`us with a very good confit de canard lunch our first this year. With a 50 cl carafe of wine and coffee this came to 40 euros good value for the loaction and quality of food. It's a five minute drive from Castlenaud la Chapellle
Went for family lunch. Spectacular place and lovely atmosphere. Perfect for a coke Ordered lunch. Hamburgers, duck breast and kids menus. Frankly very badly cooked burgers. All was burned. The Bread, the duck and the optaties fried in burned oil. Staff was underpowered and one waitress quite unfriendly. Sat waiting for desert for app 30 minutes until i was fed up and went to pay with the patron. He apologized for the food. Very friendly patron so i hope he can change the course of this place in little dordogne paradise!
site to visit absolutely the visit of the castle is great for the big as the little ones the garden is pleasant and the animation of the vultures and cabbage is worth the detour
