We had been looking forward to dining here and went for lunch on a Sunday. The setting is lovely a wooden terrace over the Rhein. I had the (shared) antipasti platter followed by chicken skewers with bulgar and butter beans, which was delicious. Sadly the food and setting were let down by the service. We were seated shortly after arriving but then had to ask for menus, having been ignored for 15 minutes. Again we had to ask to order and then waited some time for our drinks. We ordered a bottle of wine which was left at a neighbouring table (initially empty and then remained there when guests sat down) we had to collect the wine and ask for it to be opened. Whilst waiting for our starter we asked for bread which did not arrive until after the starter. Whilst frustrating, I do appreciate that service can be slow when a restaurant is busy. However, the real sour note occurred when our waitress was opening our wine. She asked if everything was ok with our meal and I stated that actually we were finding service a bit slow. I started to explain that we had been in the restaurant for nearly 45 minutes and I was only just having the first drink I’d ordered when she abruptly cut me off and stated that she did not speak English. She then proceed to, in English, ask if I wanted to taste the wine etc. Overall I think we were probably unlucky with service but I think the way it was handled by our waitress was disappointing and let down the rest of the experience.
