we asked at the tourism office gap for restaurant recommendations and were referred to le tourton des alpes. what a sound! the restaurant is located under an old stone arch in gaps old town. they go down a few steps to find themselves. in an old stone room with a vaulted deck. we were warmly welcomed and the server did her best to help with language differences, she was a French speaker and we as English spokesman. the tourist office rep suggested we try the specificity of the region, called toutons small bags of filling, which are similar roasted are fried in the form of fried ravioli, but with another and much better taste. my lunch was a large plate of green salate surrounded by many of the toutons with kartoffel filling. the herr had another house speciality that had a few toutons and a small salat, but the main dish was like a heavy, deep dish crust less quiche. it is filling was mostly cheese and sweet excellent! the man enjoyed a glass wee, which he explains very good and very good price. our lunch specialties came with coffee and dessert, what a tasty bite! dessert was a small bowl of sky with two pieces sweet, crispy French toast, covered with heavenly purée. pure heaven. overall it was a wonderful eating good eating in an interesting location, served by friendly waitstaff.
