We often look for an Indian restaurant in the cities we visit to change up the flavor experiences. Mandir was highly rated and accessible in the main part of Basel and close to one of the remaining old city gates. We walked in with no reservation and were quickly seated. We ordered and were pleased with the choices of marinated fried onions and green sauce, chicken tikka masala, mango lamb curry, buttered naan, and basmati rice. These were superb and more than the two of us could consume along with a Swiss fruity wine as a pairing. The service was good, and the owner(?) made small jokes in passing.
Mandir is some of the best Indian food in Basel. The staff are always friendly and willing to adjust orders per request. The menu is diverse and offers plenty of vegetarian options. The location by Spalentor is very central. I often take business colleagues visiting here, especially gusts from India, and they are always happy.
We booked a table at Mandir and we were really satisfied with our choice ! The waiter was really helpful with the dishes we choose and the food was really delicious. One of the best Indian restaurant I tried! I highly recommend this place.
Best Indian restaurant for miles round. The Mango Lamb and Gohst Kastoori are the favorites of my family, but I can honestly say I tried the majority of the menu and never disappointed.
