Have always loved this place and go regularly. John and Sarah are so welcoming as are the staff. So I was a little surprised at breakfast this morning when it wasn't quite as welcoming as usual. Met by blank expressions I felt a little uncomfortable, almost as though id upset someone. Usually greeted with a smile and how are you. It was far from its normal happy cheerful place. The food as always was lovely.its a shame I don't feel like returning in a hurry. As a very regular customer I've begun to feel less valued when they don't acknowledge us.
Delicious food, with such a tempting menu! There are loads of options which is great, but particularly a lot of veggie and gluten free options, which 2 of the group are. We were a little bit awkward, ordered 2 gluten free vegan burgers and one normal, all with different cheeses and add-ons and swaps etc, but our waitress Lucy (sorry if that's wrong! was really sweet, and got it all perfect. The food was really tasty and filling with a very generous portion size! Our drinks were made and delivered quickly, I highly recommend the Sauvignon :
Well what can I say apart from fabulous all round. Went today for a valentines meal with the other half and had an amazing meal. The scampi salad is most impressive and the salted caramel cheesecake is divine. All of the staff are friendly and extremely efficient and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you Pen Mill for a lovely evening.
Can someone show the breakfast chef how to poach an egg? Thank you! Stayed 2 nights. The young bar staff and waitress from our first night were very personable, friendly and professional. The older staff working our second night were awful. If you don’t want to do the job find something else.
