"Finally tried their bun at the Night Noodle Markets at South Bank. I had the chicken bun and it was underwhelming. The chicken was dry and there was not much flavor in the whole bun. Whilst the vendor is nice, I don't think I'll have another bun."

Quite frankly, I didn't know what to expect when we came across The Bun Mobile at Roma St. Parkland during the "Picnic in the Park" this past Saturday. I was somewhat confused by the names and descriptions of their offerings. We're from Honolulu, Hawaii and when someone tells you hot steamed buns with the option of pork, chicken, beef or veggie filling, our assumption is that it would be somewhat like our manapua (char siu bao) which are offered both steamed and baked with a multitude of different fillings. What The Bun Mobile offered, however, was similar in that they were steamed buns (like you get with Peking duck), but these were SUPER SIZED from the traditional bun/bao size to a Big Mac version! The fillings were also different - a piece of chicken breast (versus minced meat), sauce and slaw. Wasn't sure what to make of it. The flavors were ok (the flavor of the teri chicken was the best part of the entire experience), but the experience left me confused/conflicted: if you give me a steamed bun with hoisin sauce, I want duck with it, not a teriyaki chicken breast and cole slaw.Overall, it was just OK.I also thought that the $10 price tag was WAY too high for what was offered. Again, our home option comes with a $2 price tag and sadly much more flavor. The service was good; a little slow, but that's to be expected when people are queued up.If you're ever in Honolulu (or in your city's Chinatown) try our home style bun/bao you'll see what I mean.

Being in Brisbane for a few number of years, I kept on hearing about this little kitchen on wheels.Be sure you check their social media pages to see if they are coming to your area each week.I had tried their famous boa's before. It was a few years back at the Noodle Night Markets at Southbank.I found that the boa's were very dry and I did not enjoy it at all.I guess they would have been mass producing boa's it to accommodate the amount of people attending the festival, I get it.My friend's asked me to meet her over at Stafford on a Thursday night.I'm sure glad she did.I ordered their vegetarian boa - field mushroom, pesto and grilled halloumi... it was the most delicious thing iI had eaten. The bun was the most softest boa, you could rest your head on it. Everything on it really worked - I was honestly really surprised. The Chicken Parmie was a definite big thumbs up and also the pork belly boa. Can't wait to grab another one again soon!

We tried these buns tonight at the Truck In / Tuck In. We ordered the Pulled Pork, Teriyaki Chicken and Wagyu Buns. The pulled pork one was delicious but the Wagyu beef one was quite fatty meat and the chicken one had quite a bit of gristle. Don't think I would have these again, however it must just be our taste as everyone else around us were raving about them.

These buns are amazing. Filled with fresh, delicious as anything ingredients. I love the specials the most because they change things up every week and it's always good to try something new. If you're lucky enough there will be an amazing dessert also to delve into!
