The Toasted Walnut

This little spot is cute and they are preparing fresh soups daily and scones etc. They do a breakfast which is just ok, greasy frozen hash browns, eggs and cheap bacon. good scones and homemade jam though. The price is too high for the quality and the lack of good service. You wait a long time for food items as well as drinks. I have had to get up to find the waitress, interupt her personal stories she was sharing with the other waitress after standing at the counter for a long time in need of cutlery. Twice!! Also it is hot in there in the summer and they leave the back door open for long periods of time letting flies and the heat in. They have air conditioning but it can't keep up with the back door wide open. The vents are on the floor under the tables, so while your legs are freezing everything above the waist is sweating. They need more people working there that are attentive. It seems that the staff don't worry to much about guest having a good experience. More responsible adult supervision is needed!!!!

My husband and I went here for lunch a couple of weeks ago based on a recommendation. We both ordered sandwiches which come on their fresh naan bread, and my husband had the potato and leek soup also. Overall the food was very good, the sandwiches are a good size, the soup tastes homemade and I would say the value for price paid was definitely there. If you are a picky eater, I would double check what is on the sandwich first, as not all ingredients are necessarily outlined as I learned when there were onions on my sandwich, but my husband and I just switched and I was happy! On our way out we decided to grab a bag of their shortbread cookies - they have different flavours and we bought the skor ones I think. They were absolutely TO DIE FOR! I literally have not bought shortbread cookies that come anywhere near to comparing to my grandmother's homemade ones, but these are close!!

Quaint. Friendly. It's just got a great feel to it. The folks inside are friendly, the pace is relaxed, what's not to like!? And there's an express just around the corner if you're not looking to sit down. Perfect!

Nice small place. The only comment would be they need to put on the air conditioning when it is hot outside. Couldn't enjoy our meal because it was hot in the restaurant. Opening the window made it even hotter.

This is a great spot for a light lunch. The food and service are very good. My wife enjoys taking friends here for lunch.
